Cunniff Design were introduced to iQ Student to deliver the scheme, designed by architecture practice 74, from RIBA Stage 3. Having worked previously with 74, we knew the collaboration would work well and we could deliver their design whilst they were retained by the client as design monitor. Cunniff Design took the planning scheme and modelled it in Revit to develop a co-ordinated technical design using BIM L2 standards allowing for a straight-forward delivery on site.

Challenges

Built from traditional brickwork, the detailing of this deceptively complex façade was a challenge, but our use of Revit to model the facade in 3D helped us overcome issues such as co-ordination with the concrete frame and the brick support system.

Anne Knight

The building is named after Anne Knight, a leading figure in the women’s suffrage movement in Sheffield, to mark the 100 year anniversary since women were given the vote in parliamentary elections. This connection is also being honoured with a large piece of public art in the building foyer by local artist Coralie Turpin.
